Public Sector – Insight Analysis, Sweden 2017

The Swedish public sector accounts for a large share of the national economic activity. It is the thirdlargest sector in terms of value added to GDP, behind the services industry and manufacturing. This aspect, coupled with the fact that the public sector greatly differs from country to country and is thus not as suited for packaged applications as other sectors, has resulted in the public sector becoming a major vertical sector for SITS investment, second only to manufacturing. Sweden has enjoyed a good overall economic development over the last few years, and even though current forecasts project growth rates to decline, PAC believes that investments in SITS will continue based on increased demand for efficiency, among other things. Sweden has substantial fiscal space, as public debt is low and the budget is near balance, which is why structural public investments should not be hampered due to financial strain.
