Branschrapport: RETAIL & WHOLESALE – INBRIEF ANALYSIS – SWEDEN, NORWAY, DENMARK

DENMARK: The retail and wholesale segment represents a large share of the Danish economy and its dynamism is the driver for significant investment in the SITS segment.

NORWAY: The Norwegian economy is faring well at the moment. GDP is expected to rise to 2.1 % during 2019 (up from expected 1.8% for 2018) and extend to 2.6% in 2020. Growth in both household consumption and government is expected to rise as an effect. In 2019, SSB (Norwegian Statistics Central) expects a small rise in GDP to 2.6% (up from 2.5%).

SWEDEN: Sweden’s retail market is home to some of the world’s best-known brands, including IKEA and H&M. However, even though Sweden is certainly not an insignificant market for these global Swedish brands, it is far from being their largest market. Instead, the companies are concentrating their attention more on the high-volume markets such as the USA or Germany or rapid growth markets such as the BRICS countries. This means that in terms of revenue generated in Sweden, the domestic market is dominated by locally-oriented players.
